PostSubject: Character Creation Rules   Wed Nov 14, 2012 2:30 am

All new characters must be approved by the Tony-ahn, no exceptions.
Other staff members are allowed to approve characters for playtesting, to make sure that the new character is Room-Ready, but only the Tony-ahn can give the final word of approval (any potential experience gained during playtesting will be backlogged until time of 'application' and rewarded accordingly)
Use these rules to create the character prior to requesting approval if you wish, but please do not be discouraged from asking any of the staff for assistance in creating your character.

  1. Everyone begins at level 1, for the sake of fairness only.
  2. Currently acceptable races are: Dwarf, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Halfling, Human, Orc, and Shifter.
  3. Currently acceptable classes are: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard.
  4. "Prestige Classes" can be played as well, even from level 1. Any and all requirements to play them must be met upon Character Creation, with the exception of having multiple "Class Levels". If specific Feats are required and they exceed the current maximum number of Feats that character is allowed to have, then you must still list them in your Feat list. However, the Feats will be "inactive" and the benefits of the Feats are not available until you can acquire the Feat normally through leveling up, at which point you must acquire the Feat instead of picking a new one until all Prerequesite Feats are accounted for.
  5. Everyone picks 3 feats at first level instead of the usual 1; bonuses based on race and class still apply.
  6. Starting Ability scores must be rolled in-room for the purposes of the logs. Set the WBS dice thing up like this and roll 3 times; alert the room you're going to be rolling the stats if it's crowded. The 6 "dropped" numbers are your Ability Scores; the rest is as is described in the players handbooks; *.pdf copies of the 4e Handbooks can be found here, while everyone is more than welcome to use the Hypertext d20SRD for the 3.5e information. Use either the 3.5e or the 4e books for Race and Class bonuses.
  7. HP is calculated using the following formula: (MaxHD × (Con / 2 )) + Con, where Constitution equals your entire Constitution Score and your MaxHD is the maximum possible roll on a single Hit Dice as determined by your Class.
  8. Skills are using the 3.5 Ed's Skills, plus 4th Ed's Skill Training. Which is essentially just a permanent +5 Miscellaneous Bonus because your character has been “formally trained” in the art of that Skill.
  9. Everyone starts with 2AP, or Action Points. Each action you perform, both inside and outside of combat, costs a certain amount of AP; you can continue to act as long as you have AP remaining; and AP is restored at the beginning of each of your own turns. AP is entirely level based; Race and Class are, as yet, irrelevant. A full page explaining this in more detail is in the works.
  10. Every character is required to have a Special Skill of some kind. These Specials may include ultra-powerful attacks, super-defenses that make you nearly invulnerable, or provide other various bonuses to Skill checks outside of Combat. Such Specials consume a certain amount of Special Points, hereafter called SP; Special Points are restored upon successfully performing actions in Combat, every successful action (EXCEPT Specials and using Items) restores a certain amount of SP. Each Special needs a "Cooldown" period of at least 1 turn. These Specials must be approved by the Staff, especially the Tony-ahn. Characters are by no means limited to a single Special, but each Special must be "applied for" individually. A full page explaining this in more detail is in the works.
